ImThere (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the ImThere mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, phone number, and profile photo. We use a third-party authentication provider to manage sign-in securely.
Location Data. When you share a status, we collect your approximate location so your friends can see where you are. Location is only collected when you actively choose to broadcast your availability — never in the background without your knowledge.
Contacts. With your permission, we access your contacts to help you find and connect with friends who also use ImThere. We do not store your full contact list on our servers.
Usage Data. We collect basic analytics about how you interact with the app to improve the experience, such as feature usage and crash reports.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the ImThere service
- Show your availability and location to your friends when you choose to share
- Help you find friends on the platform
- Send you notifications about friends’ activity (with your permission)
- Improve and develop new features
- Ensure the security and integrity of the service
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We never have and never will.
Your status, location, and availability are shared only with the friends you have connected with on ImThere. We may share data with:
- Service providers who help us operate the app (hosting, analytics, push notifications), under strict data processing agreements
- Legal authorities if required by law or to protect rights and safety
4. Data Retention
Your status broadcasts are ephemeral and expire automatically. We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage data is retained in aggregate form and is not linked to your identity after 90 days.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for location sharing or contact access at any time through your device settings
